Discovering the house

A la découverte du gîte

Installed in a large family house ideally located between the Louis-Philippe bridge and the Valentré bridge, "Le Deuxieme Souffle" offers various accommodation solutions in the heart of Cahors to meet everyone's expectations.

It has a large entrance to store bags and equipment, a common room and an equipped kitchen encouraging the sharing of convivial moments while the calm of its shaded garden offers a recuperative nap or post-walk meditation. It will also be able to accommodate one or two tents for bivouac enthusiasts.

The immediate proximity of the city center allows you to fully enjoy the capital of Quercy and makes all the shops useful to pilgrims, bars and restaurants easily accessible. The field of possibilities is wide open !!

Vos hôtes

Originally from the Vercors region of France, but a little nomad, I've lived all over France, as well as in Africa, South America and the Caribbean. With my wife, we have enabled our four children to discover the world, its diversity and richness, allowing them to take flight when the time came.

At a crossroads in my life where I needed to find my second wind, I put an old project into practice and set off on the Way, to take stock, to come face to face with myself, to think about the future.

Unsurprisingly, I found much more than I expected. Unsurprisingly, I found a way of life and a state of mind that suited me well.

The idea of continuing this adventure was born. It was all the more natural to turn it into a project as it perfectly complemented my wife's activity, which had already involved her for many years in the practice of Shiatsu and spirituality.

That's how we came to choose the Lot valley and decided a few years ago to drop anchor in Cahors, in the heart of the Quercy Blanc region, renowned for its quality of life, scenic beauty and authentic character. We have therefore chosen and fitted out our house here, that, since then, allows pilgrims and hikers to find the necessary rest after crossing the Causses.

With my renewed experience of the Camino, I'm now delighted to welcome pilgrims from all horizons, and to facilitate their stay in our beautiful little town. I'm equally happy to welcome hikers passing through to share with them a glimpse of what the Camino has to offer.

The rooms

The Teranga Room

Teranga means hospitality in West Africa: the guest is offered the best room in the house. With a lovely view of the garden and the hill of the Croix Magne, this one will welcome you in this tradition: all you have to do is enjoy it.

With three beds (a double bed -140x200-, a single bed -90x190- made on your arrival) and a private sanitary, it promises you a good night's well-deserved rest with the comfort you dreamed of while crossing the Causses. The included breakfast will allow you to tackle the next day's stage with full energy.

Serenity and privacy guaranteed!

The Atlantic Room

The Celts of Brittany and Galicia together, but also the Côte d'Argent and the call of the sea: the room of great travellers.

It has 4 single beds (90x200) , including two bunk beds and is near the sanitaries. Each bed is equipped with a fitted sheet and a pillow, completed on request with a duvet and its cover.

Good compromise to preserve your privacy, alone or in a small group.

The Caribbean Room

Welcome under the Caribbean sun ! This room is the sunniest one of the house, with its large bay windows.

It offers 3 single beds (90x200) and 1 double bed on the mezzanine (140x200) equipped with a fitted sheet and a pillow, complete with a duvet and its cover on request.

This is the “dormitory” spirit: a common formula on the St James' Way and a first (very gradual) approach to albergues in Spain, rightly known for their optimization of sleeping space.

Under the stars

If we have no more space or if you absolutely want to set up your tent – tarp – bivouac, it is possible to settle in the garden (2 tents or equivalent maximum) while enjoying the conveniences of the gîte.

As we are still in town, you will have little chance of seeing the Milky Way but more likely at least the Big and Little Dippers and Cassiopeia: enough to guide you to Santiago.

Les chambres

At home there is...

Cuisine aménagée

The common room has a fully equipped kitchen: microwave oven, fridge, kettle, toaster, kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery will be used by both the cook and the guests. The fridge also allows pilgrims who so wish to store their picnic the next day.

Espace buanderie

A laundry and basins are at your disposal to wash your linen which will dry quickly on the drying rack in the garden (or inside in case of bad weather).

Wifi

Whether it is to prepare for the next day's stage or to share the day's stage on the networks, the gîte has a free WIFI connection. Each bed is also equipped with a power socket and a reading light allowing you to stay up a little later without disturbing your roomates

Linge de maison

All beds are equipped with at least one fitted sheet and one pillow with pillowcase.

Pharmacie

Jacques has a small first-aid kit for the Chemin's bobology or impromptu needs, to deal with emergencies while waiting to go to the pharmacy. "Yapatou"* but it's still useful.

*"Yapatou" is a little word joke in french to say that there isn't everything.

Rangement vélos

For pilgrims or bike hikers, it is possible to shelter bikes in an enclosed space. VAE enthusiasts can also recharge their batteries...

Boisson offerte

What could be better than a good beer or a cold drink on arrival: having enjoyed it so many times on the Way, Jacques will be happy to offer it to you.

A library fund and some board games are available in the common room to spend some time a little out of the Way (if it's possible to really get out...).
